The team at Lately Lily have outdone themselves with this beautiful and bright set of alphabet flash cards! Illustrated by Micah Player, these engaging cards take you along on Lily’s travels and jaunts and make practicing the alphabet and letter sounds fun.  Avery’s favorite illustrations are the ones of the hotel, airplane, keys, and the train.

lately lily's first book

It’s no secret that we love Lately Lily, so we were thrilled to find out about Lily’s first book, Lately Lily: Adventures of a Travelling Girl by Micah Player.  Micah’s brilliant artistry and thick brushstrokes bring a lovely vintage feel to Lily’s bright and sunny world.  This book is a great introduction to “The Traveling Girl” and her curiosity and enthusiasm about the big world around her.  Lily travels near and far on an endless quest for discovery and new experiences.  We agree with Lily: “There is so much to SEE!  So much to EXPERIENCE!  So much to EXPLORE!”  You can follow Lily’s apparel line to find out “Where has Lily been, lately?"

lately lily app: paris for a day!

We were so excited to hear about the new Lately Lily app for the iPad!  In her latest adventure, traveling Lily and her pal Zeborah take a jaunt to Paris to meet her friend Audrey for a concert in the park.  You can help Lily choose her traveling outfit and pack her sunny yellow suitcase, maneuver Zeborah and Lily's suitcase through the baggage claim, take photos out the window on her flight to Paris and finally, have a wonderful time with Audrey at the al fresco concert in the park!  Avery loved choosing Lily's clothes for her trip and was delighted to see Lily later on dressed in the outfit that she had put together for her!  While on the plane, Avery also enjoyed searching through the camera viewfinder for photo subjects in the French landscape below and lastly, she liked hearing and repeating the French words taught by Lily while walking the streets of Paris.  Avery and I both loved the animation and playful surprises throughout the app.  There were plenty of new things to talk about and interesting sights to see!  It was a lovely taste of Parisian life through Lily's eyes.  Can't wait to see where Lily is off to next!

Popville was one of Avery's gifts this past Christmas.  From the minute I opened it, I was intrigued by its clever and modern design and execution and knew that Avery would be, too.  It is a pop-up book that shows how a small town evolves from a solitary farmhouse to a bustling, urban city complete with towering power lines.  Popville is Anouck Boisrobert and Louis Rigaud's first book and you can find more information about a more recent book of theirs, Tip Tap, on their publisher's site, Helium Editions, or on Fine Fine Books.  You can see their newest book, Océano, in action here.
