Working Boats: An Inside Look at Ten Amazing Watercraft

Working Boats: An Inside Look at Ten Amazing Watercraft offers just that — a deep, detailed look at the innards of salmon trollers, tugboats, salmon seiners, king crabbers, coast guard cutters, halibut schooners, fireboats and more.  Included are spreads that shed light on the lives of the people of working boats, safety gear, engines and propulsion.  Fascinating and highly engaging, this is one of our favorite books published this year!

Working Boats: An Inside Look at Ten Amazing Watercraft was written and illustrated by Tom Crestodina and published by Little Bigfoot.

Tomorrow Is New Year’s Day: Seollal, a Korean Celebration of the Lunar New Year

It’s almost Lunar New Year!  Seollal is Mina’s her favorite day of the year!  She’s even more excited because her family is coming to school to share Seollal traditions with her class.  Dressed in her pretty hanbok, Mina shows everyone how to play jegi-chagi, fly bangpe-yeon and she demonstrates sebae, a special New Year’s greeting to show respect to elders.  Everything’s going well until Mina’s father and extremely grumpy younger brother show up.  Will Mina’s special day be ruined?  A lovely story about Korean culture and the joy of new year traditions celebrated with friends.

Tomorrow Is New Year’s Day: Seollal, a Korean Celebration of the Lunar New Year was written and illustrated by Aram Kim and published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux Books for Young Readers. Out on December 27!

How We Eat

A beautifully inclusive book celebrating all of the different ways we eat.  It’s a joy to read and belongs in every home library.  Congratulations to Shuli and the team behind this thoughtful new board book!
