Andrea Beaty and David Roberts have collaborated again on another enchanting story—Happy Birthday, Madame Chapeau. It’s a sweet story about friendship and reaching out to one another in our community. Madame Chapeau, expert hat maker, crafts amazing headwear for the denizens of Paris. One night out on the town, she loses her beloved bonnet and is surprised by a little girl who comes to her rescue.
Beaty’s lively rhyming text pairs charmingly well with Roberts' striking hats and chic ensembles. It’s no wonder, though, that Roberts’ sartorial renditions are tailored so impeccably—his background includes jobs as a fashion illustrator and milliner previous to becoming a children’s book illustrator. This story is a delight for the eyes as much as it is for the heart.
